What Loop & Branch is

Loop & Branch is an English-language guide to films and TV series about time: time travel, time loops, parallel universes and alternate timelines. It covers any genre, any country and any era.

The site is at an early stage. It currently shows 11 titles from the 1980s to today, 2 of them with a full review. Behind it is a research catalogue of 348 titles that will be published gradually.

How the catalogue is built

Every title has a catalogue entry with its year, type, country, genres and themes, and at least one source that confirms both the basic data and the theme (usually Wikipedia, Wikidata and IMDb). If a fact can't be verified, it is left out rather than guessed. What counts as each theme is explained on What counts as time travel.

How reviews are made

Each review starts from a research dossier in which every fact carries a cited source. The review is then written, edited for correctness and edited again for readability before it is published under the byline Loop & Branch Editorial. Titles without a finished review show only their catalogue facts and a “Full review coming soon” note, never a score. The scoring scales are on How we review.

Everything above a review's spoiler section is safe for someone who has seen nothing. Twists and endings live in a clearly labelled section that stays closed until you open it.

Images and trailers

The logo, theme icons and diagrams are our own graphics. Title pages show the official poster or key art, stored on our own server; each title page names its source. Most posters come from The Movie Database (TMDB), others from the studio's own website. If we can't confirm that artwork is official, the title keeps our own graphic instead.

Trailers come only from the YouTube channel of the studio, distributor, network or streamer behind the title, never from fan or trailer-aggregator channels, so some titles have none. A trailer loads only when you press play: until then no request goes to YouTube, and the player uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) mode.

Privacy and analytics

To see which pages and features are used, we count visits with Umami, an open-source analytics tool that runs on our own server, and with Cloudflare Web Analytics. Both work without cookies. We look only at aggregate figures, such as page views, referring sites and how often trailers, filters and search are used, and we don't build profiles of individual visitors.
